The car search

I swear, you'd think car dealers were sitting pretty in this economy, the way they acted.
No one seemed to want to sell me a car.

I mean isn't a "sales person" supposed to encourage a purchase?

I went to many dealers. Exhausted myself searching and researching for the perfect vehicle for me. I mean, come on, I don't expect to be buying another car anytime in the near future (or ever again).

If someone comes to a lot to see a particular vehicle and is not quite impressed with said vehicle, don't you think a good sales person would offer to show other vehicles? Maybe something a step up and another a step down. Of course NOT.

Or if someone visits your lot and says they are interested in a particular vehicle and goes so far as to get a quote, does it make sense to move that vehicle to another lot the very next morning?
And when the buyer returns, tell them the quote they got will not be honored? Unbelievable.

And don't get me started on the car makers. Why is it that during the "gas crisis" of the 70's one could purchase a car that got 40-50 mpg. Now in order to get that kind of mileage, you need to buy a hybrid. If I had unlimited funds I would have bought a totally electric car. But unfortunately my budget was a bit below $100,000.

That is only the tip of the iceberg. I really am not a particularly fussy person. I mean, I've been a mom x4. No matter how particular a person is, once they are a mom several times over, they are forced to relax their standards. Being peed, pooped, vomited and sneezed on has a way of humbling a person.

I ended up getting a 2010 Subaru Outback and I could not be happier.I
